Superior irrigation products for nurseries and greenhouses
Superior is the consolidation of three long-standing brands — Buckner, Superior Controls and Western Brass — and the range shows it. Red brass in-line and angle valves, normally-open and normally-closed master valves, and the deepest brass impact sprinkler line we carry. Two things stand out for growers: the SPVLF valve has no minimum flow requirement and holds down to 0.01 gph, and the Sterling controller switches to a seconds time base for mist and propagation.
Input 120 V ac 50/60 Hz; output 24 V ac 50 VA. Two 4-watt solenoids per station; up to six solenoids at once below 0.25 A each. Non-volatile memory holds programmes through any outage; a ten-year lithium battery keeps real time
Sizes
4, 8, 12, 18, 24, 30 and 36 stations. Wall or pedestal mount — pedestal sold separately. Terminal strip option (TS) on the 18, 24, 30 and 36
Best for
The reason to specify this over a landscape timer is the time base: all six programmes can switch to seconds, giving station times from 1 second to 24 minutes in 1-second steps, with misting cycles that repeat immediately or after a delay of 1 minute to 4 hours 15 minutes. A programmable 1–59 second pause between stations lets a valve close fully before the next opens. Six independent programmes run concurrently, any station can sit in all six, and programme 6 can be triggered by a thermostat or sensor switch for frost protection or cooling. Water budgeting 1–255%, rain-off to 14 days, weather-proof locking steel cabinet
0 to 200 gpm — no minimum flow requirement, reliable operation down to 0.01 gph
Pressure
20–200 psi, to 150°F. Standard 24 V ac; 110 V ac and 220 V ac optional
Sizes
1" (SPVLF100), 1½" (SPVLF150), 2" (SPVLF200)
Best for
The valve to reach for on mist and propagation zones. A dual-chamber design with a patented internal 3-way solenoid means it opens and closes regardless of system flow rate — there is no minimum flow to satisfy, so it will hold a zone drawing almost nothing, where a conventional diaphragm valve chatters or fails to seat. Glass-filled nylon body, EPDM diaphragm, coil rotates 360° and lifts off without disturbing the solenoid operator. Five-year warranty
20–200 psi, to 150°F. Standard 24 V ac (0.30 A holding); low-watt, 110 V ac, 220 V ac and DC latching versions available
Sizes
1" (SPV100), 1½" (SPV150), 2" (SPV200)
Best for
Forward-flow plastic valve with a self-cleaning scrubber rod and two-piece internal assembly protecting the diaphragm, and both internal and external bleed — internal bleed operates the valve without discharging into the valve box. 600 lb test nylon-reinforced EPDM diaphragm. Internal components interchange with the brass 950, which keeps one spares kit covering both. Takes the PRS-MOD regulating module. Five-year warranty
20–150 psi. Standard 24 V ac; low-watt, 110 V ac, 220 V ac and DC latching optional
Sizes
3/4" (450075), 1" (450100)
Best for
Small forward-flow valve moulded from mineral-reinforced nylon with internally moulded brass screw inserts, so the threads do not strip out the way an all-plastic bonnet does. Self-cleaning scrubber rod, internal bleed lever for manual operation, 600 lb test EPDM diaphragm. Its 0.075 gpm minimum makes it usable on small micro zones. Three-year warranty
15–150 psi, to 150°F. Standard 24 V ac encapsulated solenoid; DC latching optional
Sizes
1" — LCV100F flow control NPT, LCV100FS flow control slip, LCV100S slip without flow control
Best for
Moulded reinforced UPVC body in threaded or slip, with a heavy glass-filled nylon bonnet. Two bleed options — an internal switch under the solenoid seat and an external petcock on the bonnet. Internal filter keeps debris out of the diaphragm chamber, and it is compatible with 2-wire systems, which matters when the controller is a decoder type. Five-year warranty
20–200 psi, to 180°F. Standard 24 V ac; low-watt, 110 V ac, 220 V ac and DC latching optional
Sizes
3/4" to 3" — 950075, 950100, 950125, 950150, 950200, 950250, 950300. BSPT on request
Best for
The brass workhorse of the range and the highest temperature rating of any Superior valve at 180°F. High-quality red brass with a forward-flow design, self-cleaning scrubber rod and two-piece internal assembly. External bleed for manual operation, coil rotates 360° and removes without disturbing the solenoid operator. Backward compatible with earlier Superior brass valves, so it drops into an existing installation. Takes the PRS-MOD regulating module
20–200 psi, to 180°F. Standard 24 V ac; low-watt, 110 V ac and 220 V ac optional
Sizes
3/4" to 3" — 950DW075 through 950DW300. BSPT on request
Best for
The 950 reworked for dirty and recycled water, where suspended solids would otherwise pack the diaphragm chamber and leave a valve weeping or stuck open. Same red brass body, 600 lb test EPDM diaphragm and external bleed. Choose this over the standard 950 on pond, canal or reclaimed supply rather than relying on filtration alone
20–200 psi, to 180°F. Standard 24 V ac; low-watt, 110 V ac, 220 V ac and DC latching optional
Sizes
1" (950A100), 1½" (950A150), 2" (950A200). BSPT on request
Best for
Angle-pattern version of the 950 for a riser coming vertically out of the ground, which removes an elbow and the pressure loss with it. Red brass, forward flow, self-cleaning scrubber rod, external bleed, 360° rotating coil
From the Buckner collection, and the one to specify where a stuck-open valve would do real damage: the reverse-flow design fails CLOSED if the diaphragm tears or is punctured, instead of dumping the zone until someone notices. Consistent slow, smooth closing reduces water hammer and prolongs valve life. Red brass with a 600 lb test EPDM diaphragm and external bleed
The VB built for dirty and recycled water, and it starts working from 10 psi rather than 20. Same fail-closed reverse-flow protection against a torn diaphragm, same slow smooth close, with anti-clogging internals. Red brass, external bleed
20–200 psi. Standard 24 V ac; 110 V ac and DC latching optional
Sizes
3/4" to 3" — 3200075, 3200100, 3200150, 3200200, 3200250, 3200300. 3200NXT variant also available
Best for
Master valve that shuts the mainline down between cycles, so a failed zone valve or a split line cannot empty the supply overnight. The dual-chamber design means no minimum flow, so it still seats properly on a system running a single small zone. Non-continuous flow through the solenoid extends the life of the filter assembly, and external plumbing lets that filter be serviced without pulling the valve. Supersedes the 3000
1" to 3" — 3300100, 3300150, 3300200, 3300250, 3300300
Best for
Normally open, so the mainline stays pressurised and quick couplers and manual watering work without energising anything — the right choice where staff need water on demand between programmed cycles. Dual chamber for no minimum flow, non-continuous solenoid flow to protect the filter, and external plumbing for servicing it. Supersedes the 3100
20–200 psi. DC latching pulse 9–24 V DC, pulse width 30–50 mS
Sizes
SPV 1", 1½", 2" with the optional DC latching solenoid
Best for
The plastic SPV specified with the optional latching solenoid, for battery and solar controllers where there is no mains at the valve box. Identical body, scrubber rod and EPDM diaphragm as the AC version — only the solenoid changes, so spares are shared. Note the low-flow SPVLF is AC only
20–150 psi. DC latching pulse 9–24 V DC, pulse width 30–50 mS
Sizes
3/4" (450075), 1" (450100) with the optional DC latching solenoid
Best for
The small 450 on a latching solenoid — the combination to use for a battery-run micro zone, since its 0.075 gpm minimum is low enough for drip and micro-sprinkler laterals. Mineral-reinforced nylon with moulded brass inserts
15–150 psi. DC latching pulse 9–24 V DC, pulse width 30–50 mS
Sizes
1" — LCV100F, LCV100FS, LCV100S with the optional DC latching solenoid
Best for
UPVC light commercial valve in latching form. Already 2-wire compatible, so this is the version that pairs with a decoder system rather than a conventional multi-core run
20–200 psi. DC latching pulse 9–24 V DC, pulse width 30–50 mS
Sizes
3/4" to 3" — 3200075 through 3200300 with the optional DC latching solenoid
Best for
Mainline shutoff on a battery or solar controller. The dual-chamber no-minimum-flow design matters more here than on a zone valve, because a master valve has to seat reliably whatever the system happens to be drawing. The normally open 3300 has no latching option
The 950 with pressure regulation built into the valve rather than bolted on, so zone pressure is held whatever the mainline does. Regulation is maintained during manual operation, which a separate downstream regulator cannot promise, and it is fitted with a Schrader valve so the setting can be read with a normal pressure gauge. Red brass, internal bleed
Recommended by valve size: 5–20 gpm on 3/4", 5–40 on 1", 15–70 on 1¼", 20–100 on 1½", 40–200 on 2", 100–360 on 2½" and 3"
Pressure
Regulates 10–100 psi to within ±3 psi, inlet to 200 psi, to 150°F
Sizes
PRS-MOD — fits the SPV, 950 and 800 valve families
Best for
Converts an SPV or 950 into a pressure-regulating valve after the fact, which is the cheap way to fix a block that turned out to be over-pressured without replacing the valve. The adjustment dial is graduated in 5 psi steps so the setting can be read off rather than guessed, and the housing is sealed against fogging and binding. Holding downstream pressure steady also takes the water hammer out of a system with pump cycling
Their one plastic impact, and Superior name nurseries and greenhouses among its intended uses. Heavy-duty plastic body with stainless steel springs and fulcrum pin, adjustable diffuser pin, anti-backsplash arm and a stream-straightening vane built into the bayonet nozzle. Chemical-resistant bearing seals. Rotates 20° to 340° or full circle. The budget option for temporary blocks and short-life installations where a brass head is not worth burying
Superior list nurseries and greenhouses first for this one. Solid brass with a manganese bronze die-cast arm, patented spray distribution grooves and a stream-straightening vane as standard, so the pattern holds its shape rather than breaking up close to the head. Stainless springs, trip assembly and fulcrum pin, anti-backsplash arm, chemical-resistant bearing seals. Rotates 20° to 340° or full circle
Powder-coated zinc die-cast body — the middle option between the plastic 65P and a solid brass head, and also named for nurseries and greenhouses. Stainless springs and fulcrum pin, adjustable diffuser pin, anti-backsplash arm, stream-straightening vane included. Rotates 20° to 340° or full circle
1/2" male NPT inlet, nozzle 3/8-24 UNF — nozzle codes 06 to 10
Best for
Agricultural head for centre pivots, solid sets, hand lines, crop cooling and frost control. Solid brass with stainless steel springs, spindle and fulcrum pin, and chemical-resistant bearing seals. Parts interchange with the Rain Bird 20JH, which matters if a block is already running that head and only some need replacing
1/2" male NPT inlet, nozzle thread 1/8-27 NPT — nozzle codes 06 to 10
Best for
The 17023 with an NPT nozzle thread rather than UNF, for solid sets, hand lines and frost control where the nozzle stock on hand is pipe-thread. Solid brass, stainless springs, spindle and fulcrum pin
1/2" male NPT inlet, nozzle 3/8-24 UNF — nozzle codes 04 to 07
Best for
Wedge-drive version for solid sets, hand lines, centre pivot, crop cooling and frost control where smaller nozzles are wanted. The plastic self-cleaning wedge drive keeps the arm swinging consistently on gritty water
1/2" male NPT inlet, nozzle thread 1/8-27 NPT — nozzle codes 04 to 07
Best for
The lowest-flow head in the Superior impact range, starting at 0.33 gpm — useful where a block needs many small heads rather than a few large ones. Plastic self-cleaning wedge drive assembly, bearing assembly hood for longevity, chemical-resistant seals
1/2" NPT inlet with plastic bearing, nozzle 3/8-24 UNF — nozzle codes 04 to 07, #51, #50, #44
Best for
Low 15° trajectory for under-tree solid sets, where a standard 23–25° head throws into the canopy instead of the ground. Plastic bearing on a brass body
Single or dual nozzle, to roughly 20 gpm by nozzle pairing
Pressure
35–80 psi
Trajectory
25°
Throw diameter
40–60 ft spacing
Sizes
3/4" male NPT inlet — drive nozzle 1/4-18 NPT, range nozzle 3/8-24 UNF, nozzle codes 06 to 14 plus plug
Best for
Step up from the 1/2” heads for solid sets needing wider spacing. Dual-nozzle design — a drive nozzle and a range nozzle — so throw and application rate can be tuned independently rather than trading one for the other
1" male NPT inlet — drive nozzle 1/4-18 NPT, range nozzle 5/8-18 UNF, nozzle codes 08 to 24
Best for
One-inch dual-nozzle head for large solid sets and field blocks. At up to 46.6 gpm and 80 ft radius this is field-scale equipment rather than a bench or container head
1" male NPT inlet — drive nozzle 5/8-18 UNF, filler nozzle 3/8-24 UNF, nozzle codes 08 to 24 plus plug
Best for
The 300SAX pattern with a filler-nozzle arrangement instead of a range nozzle, which fills in the close-in area a large single nozzle leaves dry. Same 1” inlet and flow envelope
1¼" male NPT inlet — drive and range nozzles 3/4-16 UNF, nozzle codes 14 to 40
Best for
The largest head Superior make — up to 132 gpm and 117 ft radius. Built for large-volume coverage: pasture, fertiliser dispersal, waste water treatment, reclamation, mining and dust control. Opposing nozzles and a range tube to extend radius, with an adjustable diffuser pin
1¼" male NPT inlet — filler nozzle 1/8-27 NPT, nozzle codes 14 to 40 plus plug
Best for
Large-area head for commercial, agricultural, municipal and pasture work, and for dust control. Over-under nozzle arrangement, single or dual, with a stream-straightening vane as standard to hold the jet together at long throw
3/4" male NPT inlet — drive nozzle 1/4-18 NPT, filler nozzle 3/8-24 UNF, nozzle codes 06 to 14 plus plug
Best for
Superior name nurseries directly for this one. Part-circle capable, rotating 20° to 340° or full circle, so it can be set to keep water off a road or building line. Solid brass with stainless springs, trip assembly, collars and fulcrum pin, anti-backsplash arm, adjustable diffuser pin and single or dual nozzle
1" inlet — drive nozzle 5/8-18 UNF, filler nozzle 3/8-24 UNF, nozzle codes 08 to 24 plus plug
Best for
Part-circle one-inch head with a cast brass trip assembly, over-under nozzles and an adjustable diffuser pin. Rotates 20° to 340° or full circle. The widest pressure range of the large heads at 35–100 psi, so it suits a system whose pressure is not tightly controlled
1¼" male NPT inlet — filler nozzle 1/8-27 NPT, nozzle codes 14 to 40 plus plug
Best for
The part-circle version of the AI120, rotating 20° to 340° or full circle — the one to use on a boundary where a full-circle head of this size would throw off site. Cast brass trip assembly and a bearing assembly hood for longevity
We sell Superior equipment wholesale to production nurseries, greenhouse operations and horticulture education programs, from our warehouse in Fountain Inn, South Carolina, and ship to growers in all 50 states. Will-call pickup is available during business hours.
The Superior range published by the manufacturer is larger than what any distributor lists online. If the model, size or spacing you need is not on this page, send the part number or describe the job and we'll quote it. For a full system we would rather see your water source, pressure and crop first: tell us those and we'll help you spec it from the pump to the plant.
